Freehand Fish & Chips - Food Nail Art

How are you all doing today? I hope you had an awesome week and have something fun lined up for this weekend?

You may or may not know that in England one of our classic takeaway indulgence's is fish and chips! I have many memories of having fish and chips on sea-side days out. These days I don't eat things like that very often, or take away food generally but every once in a while it is nice to have a treat.

This nail art was inspired by the last time I had fish and chips, it was cold and drizzling when me, my mother, sister and niece went to watch the town's annual carnival - Some of you joined me on my live Instagram! My mum didn't feel like cooking after standing around for so long we decided to have a cheeky chippy dinner!

Of course 'battered' fish wouldn't look that great for nail art so I had to 'cute it up' a little.

Just so you know there wont be any new nail art in my next post.. but it is my 5^th blogiversary! So I will have something else fun lined up for you all!

Through the keyhole - Wild, Wild West & A Horsey Friend!

How are we all doing today? I hope you had a fantastic weekend.

Are you doing anything fun over the weekend?

I'll be off to a party of my sister-in-laws friend. I'm actually a bit nervous. I don't know if I ever mentioned about how I used to suffer with anxiety (amongst a whole host of joys) with panic attacks and most people could never guess it I do sometimes get nervous in new situations like this, which causes my syndrome to flair up, which causes more nervousness about being unwell while I'm not at home.. I'm sure it'll be fine! Do you ever get anxious in new situations?

Today's nail art is actually inspired by one of my older designs. Do you remember the 'Through The Keyhole' manicure I did? I painted the shape of a keyhole on my nails and inside that space created a 'swan lake' sort of landscape? Well today when we look through the keyhole we'll be transported somewhere else. This time though.. if you want to actually go I do have the key!

Today's keyhole will take you to the dangerous and wonderful Wild, Wild, West! Do you think this fella belongs to a cowboy or is he wild and free to roam the lands as he pleases?

So I'd had this little key floating around for sometime and I had really wanted to implement it into some art for as long as I can remember. There was actually a few of these as they came off of a bracelet however this was the final one.. so I made good use of it before I lost it.

As you can see I didn't use too many polishes (I need to use more polishes) besides my OPI base, Wet 'N' Wild's 'Black crème' and Barry M's Matte top coat.

Which location would you rather go to; This one or my swan lake? Have you tried freehand inside a specific shape?

'Just Horsing Around' - Freehand Valentines Day Seahorse Nail Art

How are you all doing today? I hope you will have an amazing weekend – do you have anything cool planned?

If I am being completely honest with you the idea of Valentines Day nail art just wasn't appealing to me. I sort of had to force myself into it however.. the idea of some cute little sea horses did help persuade me!

These guys are so non-committal, they are just horsing around? Get it?! Terrible, I know, I know!

I decided to go for a soft pastel look with this manicure, the three main polishes I used for my base was Sinful Colors 'Unicorn', Wet 'N' Wild 'Putting On Airs' and 'Tickled Pink' with the addition of Barry M's 'Diamond Glitter' for the Oohh la la factor! Who doesn't love a sprinkle of sparkles?

I'm torn between if I prefer the matte version or the glossy version. The matte version looks so smooth but the sparkles are dull.. The glossy version has the sparkles but the acrylic doesn't look as smooth.. hmm! What do you guys think?

Freehand Glittery Fire And Ice Nail Art!

How are you all doing today? Tell me about your weekend :)

Things are still very raw here and there's a fair chances its going to get much harder in this coming week, there have been a lot of emotional moments and trips back and forth to the hospital. I'll be doing my best to get back into a pattern even while this is happening because I think that's best for me but I did need that little week off..

Today's manicure comes inspired from another weekly challenge from Tiny Canvas, our theme this week was 'Fire and Ice' – to be honest.. I hadn't expected much from myself with everything going on offline so I was somewhat surprised when I edited my pictures and didn't hate what I'd created!

I decided to make this an absolute glitterfest, red for fiery embers and flakies for a frosted look!

I didn't really know how to combine both elements into one manicure so I decided to cut it straight down the middle which I think actually looks pretty effective!

For my fire side I began with my Mezmris Nail Lacquer base coat, 'Armor Up' and once dry I added two coats of Wet 'N' Wild's 'Black Creme'. Next I added a coat of Pretty Serious 'Haddon Field' and while it was still wet I tapped on some red and gold glitters. I then freehanded my fire..well.. tried!

For my icy side I began with the same base coat (..kinda obvious) and then applied two coats of Le Beaut #24. I then layered Zoya's Maisie on top and added some loose silver glitter. Again I freehanded the ice cubes using my fave Pure Color brushes in #9 and #10. I sealed it all in with my Mezmris Nail Lacquer top coat, 'Armor'.

Reversed Greyscale Acrylic-Gradients & Diamonds!

Happy weekend to you all, I hope you are doing fantastically? How was your week? To be honest mine was kind of dull - but I needed that. I got some stuff done I really needed to do before next week when I'll be running around like a headless chicken. I feel so relieved some of the big 'to do's' have been ticked off.

I don't think I have too much planned this weekend, hopefully I may be going out today with my sister in law and on Sunday we'll be making our own pizza's (I'm not really supposed to eat pizza but shh..It's my poison!) with all different kinds of toppings, yum!

Today I have another one of my weird acrylic-gradients for you again. I had hoped to make the centers look almost 3D like I have done previously with my diamond nail art.. I don't think I really achieved it but I had fun painting this none the less.

For this manicure I began with my fave base coat, Mezmris Nail Lacquer's 'Armor Up'. Once dry I applied two thin coats of Catrice's 'Generation whYte' and allowed to dry. I then added a thin coat of Pro-FX top coat to create a nice smooth barrier. I followed on with my acrylics by creating a thin line down the center of my nails and roughly drawing where my diamonds would be. I then blended every section from black to white using my acrylic paints and my bamboo brush (really, really, really time consuming may I add.) I then used different shades of blue and a blob of Hema's 'Happy Silver' polish in the center to try and make them gleam. I finished it all off with my Pro-FX top coat but didn't really like the out come so on went the matte top coat by Wet 'N' Wild!

What do you think of my manicure? Whilst I was photographing it I noticed that through the camera it appeared almost like an optical illusion, it was rather trippy!

Wet 'N' Wild: Putting On Airs Swatch & Review ★★★★★/5

How are you all doing today? I hope you've been having a great week so far. If not.. Don't worry, only one more day until the weekend!

Today I have a swatch to share with you, this polish was actually a gift from a very beautiful friend in America who totally surprised me earlier in the year with a box full of delights. She has such a big heart and is such a wonderful person. In the package there were 5 polishes from Wet 'N' Wild, a brand I had never had the pleasure of trying before as they don't seem to sell it here locally.

I love each and everyone, especially the matte top coat which features in most of my manicures since I received it! Today I am showing you Wet 'N' Wild's 'Putting On Airs'.

Colour ~ 'Up In Airs' is a beautiful bright light blue crème polish. I love these kinds of blues that make me think of beautiful summer days, icing on cakes.. (always the icing on cakes when I think of polishes like this, why?!)

Application ~ I really loved application of this polish, I was a little heavy handed with how much I had loaded on my brush while painting the thumb but it totally gave me a pat on the back and told me it would be ok, and it was. It self levelled very nicely and didn't bubble at all. I'm wearing two easy coats here without any of that light blue streak-age that happens with some similar shades.

Texture ~ Its on the medium to thick side but I really love it. It is beautifully glossy even before applying a top coat which is great for people like me who remove their polish a lot and don't need durability for it to last a super long time (Of course if you wanted to wear it longer, top coat of course.)

★★★★★/5 I really love this blue, I love the formula and the finish. It may not be up there in terms of being a super unique shade but its a great staple for a collection should you not have something similar and it is just so effortless to apply. Blue is the biggest colour range in my entire collection but this probably comes into my top 10.

Would I recommend this to a friend? Totally if she has nothing similar at all, but I imagine that could be a rare chance.

Huntington's Disease Awareness IG Collaboration - Freehand Nail Art

How are you all doing today? I've been hibernating. Or at least it feels like it. I think I may go for a nice walk this morning – always a good way to start the day.

Today I have some nail art which was created as part of a Collaboration on IG, my sweet friend Sammi started a group chat and organised the whole thing, this collaboration was to be for Huntington Disease Awareness. There were many different logo's and styles from various organisations and the idea was that we would recreate this into our manicures.

I agreed to do this one because I thought it was for such a worthy cause. If you have not heard of Huntington's disease it is an incredibly cruel and life stealing disease, here is an extract from google.

“Huntington disease is a progressive brain disorder that causes uncontrolled movements, emotional problems, and loss of thinking ability (cognition). Adult-onset Huntington disease, the most common form of this disorder, usually appears in a person's thirties or forties. “ - You can find more information at the following link: Wiki

Sadly there is no cure for huntington's disease at this precise moment so awareness is important and I'll continue to hope that one day there will be a cure, for all the victims who have lost lives and for all the family and friends of those who suffer.

Everyone did such a good job with their designs, if you pop over to my IG later today you will be able to see the group collage. My heart really goes out to those who have to experience this disease and I'll keep hoping that one day there can be a cure to end the suffering it causes.

Cats, Bats and Spiders! Freehand Halloween Nail Art

How are you all doing today? Did you have an awesome weekend?

I've decided to set myself little weekly challenges, I'm a sucker for lists and organisation (if you've got me on Facebook you'll have seen my collection of lists) So I am going to make myself a sort of motivational list, I'll have two or three goals I want for the coming week (besides the usual) Bigger, but achievable goals.

For one I want to do at least 10 miles of my walking workout DVD but I can easily divide that into manageable amounts! Do you tend to break things up to make them seem less daunting?

Today I have my first of three Halloween manicures. I am not too sure about this one, I feel like I had a lot to compete with as I was quite happy with the ones I did last year but you can decide for yourselves!

For this manicure I began with my Mezmris Nail Lacquer base coat, Armor Up. Once dry (that's like 0.1 seconds) I applied two coats of Catrice's 'Generation whYte' for my base. My Barry M was getting pretty low and do you think our local Kruidvat as a simple solid white polish? Esh.. This is doing the job though. I applied a coat of Pro-FX as a barrier and once dry moved onto the nail art. I used some new metallic acrylics (Thank you, Dani!!!) and my trusty tatty bamboo brush to create the purple to blue gradient. I then used my fine detailing brush to paint the rest of the scene. I finished off with my Wet 'N' Wild matte top coat.

As much as I love the background I wish I had tried a little harder with everything else, its hard to see the spider legs on the metallic background and I wish I'd done smaller bats to look as if they were really flying away..ah well!

Freehand 2D & 3D Cubes

How are you all doing today? I hope you are having a great week so far! Is it getting cold where you are? I'm noticing the decline in warmth terribly! I'm all about fluffy socks, sleeved blankets and hurrying to get inside! How will I survive another winter?!

Today's nail art is a bit...'out there'. I'm not sure if this is going to be received well (I get that feeling with some nail art, like I can almost guess its not going to be very popular!) 

If you remember a while ago I created some nail art where I painted 3d dice, but I also stuck on a miniature 3d dice also... well I decided to go down a similar route with this one..

I started this manicure by using my Mezmris Nail Lacquer base coat, Armor up and once dry I applied two coats of Wet 'n' Wild's 'Black Creme'. I then created a barrier using my Pro-fx top coat (because why? No one knows.) I then used my favourite brushes to create some sketchy grey lines and some colourful cube shapes. Next I used Jacava's top coat (because I didn't want a very fast drying top coat) and added a small red cube to my ring finger nail. I then proceeded to fill that nail entirely with an assortment of studs. For my other fingers I used Mezmris Nail Lacquer top coat, Armor, to give it a lovely glossy finish.

How do you think this stacks up compared to my dice nail art? Which do you prefer?

Mountain Scenery & Cozy Cabin Nail Art

I hope you guys are having a great weekend? I'll be taking it easy. I recently came to a rather enlightening discovery, I've been unwell for weeks at a time, this seems to come and go through the months.. From what I know about my syndrome and similar illnesses I've come to the conclusion I am very low in vitamin B-12; It ticks every single box of symptoms I am suffering. There's been a lot going on which I don't mention on the blog because.. no one wants to know that stuff!
 
I can not get to the doctors at the moment but I'm making some serious changes and I hope in a few weeks I'll feel somewhat more like my usual self!

This manicure came about because of all the beautiful pictures of forest scenes on Pinterest. I'm not talking about one specific picture... I see so many beautiful scenery pictures that I thought I'd just paint in that general direction so I didn't use a reference picture for this nail art...I created these at the end of July/August!

But... Did you guys know about the 'Science and Nature' section on Pinterest? I've only just discovered it! Its a great place for nail inspiration!!

For this manicure I began with my beloved Mezmris Nail Lacquer base coat (My nails are loving those vitamins!) I then followed on with two coats of Barry M's 'White' nail polish and allowed it to dry. I then added a coat of my Pro-FX for a paint-polish barrier (why? Idk.. habit?!) I then used my acrylic brushes and favorite brushes to create my mountain scenery. I topped it all off with Mezmris top coat for a ultra glossy finish!..I did add Wet 'N' Wild's top coat too...just because I always need to see the matte version!

I'm really happy with how this turned out. I kinda wish I'd added a bear somewhere! I feel like this is bear country, what do you guys think?

Freehand Full English Breakfast Nail Art

How are you all doing today? I hope you are having a fabulous week so far. I'll be celebrating three birthday's in two days!

Today I have yet another Tiny Canvas challenge manicure (Can you tell I am enjoying doing these?) The prompt for this challenge was food. Since I've done cakes, cheese burgers and fries.. ice creams, various fruit.. I decided to go home! With full English breakfast nail art!

If you are ready I'll take your order now. I'd also like to just say that we can make special diary amendments should like the vegan/vegetarian option, or require wheat or lactose substitutes ;) Its always good to have options!

This manicure began with a luscious coat of Mezmris base coat, Armor Up; This stuff dries SO fast that I was very quickly able to move on to my black base of Wet 'N' Wild's 'Crème Noire' which I applied in two thin coats. I then applied a thin coat of my Pro-FX top coat (I just like this habit) I used my fave brushes and acrylic paints to create all the food items. I finished it all off with Wet 'N' Wilds matte top coat because it sort of reminded me of a cafe chalk board.

So included we have Toast, fried eggs, bacon (I don't recommend it, looks a little undercooked..) sausages, fried tomato, baked beans (beans in tomato sauce) hash browns, mushrooms and dollops of tomato ketchup. I left out the black pudding (bllod sausage - gag) because... well.. I simply just don't like it and couldn't imagine any way of making it look pretty on my nails, ha!

This is a serious thing, whenever someone finds out I am British they always ask if I eat a full English breakfast everyday!! No, obviously not and I don't know anyone that does! Hah!

Freehand Autumn Leaves, Treats & Seasonal Goods!

How are you all doing today? I hope you have settled into the new week with a good comfy feeling.

We're in Autumn... how has this happened? I feel like I need to call Summer on the phone and apologise.

“I'm so sorry I complained about you, I said you were too hot... Please forgive me...Come back.. please don't let it get cold!”

Autumn does have its perks though. I do love the chill and crisp air, then the feeling of coming into a nice warm house and throwing on a comfy pair of big fluffy socks or slippers, feeling your fingers defrost and warm up again is nice too.

For this manicure I began with my Mezmris Nail Lacquer Armor Up base coat and once dry I applied two coats of Essie's 'Cashmere Bathrobe'. I then applied my barrier coat of Pro-FX top coat, just because I like to paint this way... (I know, it probably makes no difference.) Once everything was dry I used my favourite brushes to create my seasonal, autumnal goods. I decided to add some writing. Always, always a bad choice for me as it always looks sloppy but I was happy with everything else.. so booyah.

What are your favourite things about Autumn? I've never really enjoyed the colder seasons but I think that's changing slightly with each year that I get older. I do think its rather nice being under a snug blanket with a good book while its horrid outside. Roll on the cuppa soups, too..!

Freehand Brontosaurus Dinosaur Nail Art!!

How are you all doing today? I hope you are having a wicked start to the weekend!

Today's nail art is a little hit and miss, I created this for Tiny Canvas's (Best nail community on Fcebook, everyone is so nice! Its a great place to make naily friends) weekly challenge.

This theme was for dinosaurs, I don't think I've ever done dinosaurs before so I thought I'd give it a bash! Unluckily I scraped my nail just as I was about to take pictures and it took out a chunk of my dino's tale.. Matte top coat seemed to disguise it a little!!

For this manicure I began with my base coat of Mezmris Nail Lacquer, which dries almost instantly. Seriously, I love how fast I can move on since my base is usually white and I need to get on to the freehand! I then use two coats of Barry M's 'White'. I then used my Pro-FX top coat to create a barrier (Why? Who knows. I can't say there's any specific science behind my actions.) I then used my fave brushes and acrylic paints to create the scene. I finished off with Mezmris Nail Lacquer's Armor top coat and then applied the matte from Wet 'N' Wild which totally saved the day!

I feel like I was abit sloppy with with background, I was very distracted on this day.. I tried! I also wanted a badass dino on my thumb but I sort of bottled out, maybe next time... But it was fun to do and a new experience!

If you are ever looking to challenge yourself the weekly challenges at Tiny Canvas are great, its not mandatory to enter but having different themes and prompts can put you out of your comfort zone and in turn you might surprise yourself!

Freehand Birds At Sunset

How are you all doing today? I hope you are having an amazing weekend so far?

I've not been up to much, just the usual piles of sky-scraping laundry although Mr Bravo and I had a good horror movie night last night!

I've been stuck in a terrible artist block this past week. Sadly I've not made a single manicure I've liked. I am trying not to kick myself over it because normally when I let the anxiety and frustration go my flow just comes back. I'm really not a fan of the next few nail art pieces I'll be posting but of course I'll keep posting!

I created this one a short time before the challenges for the month of September where announced for Tiny Canvases weekly challenges. It just so happens on of the prompts was birds!

I don't have a lot to tell you about this one. I feel like it is terribly clumsy and.. well I'm just sorry about it.

I began with my Mezmris Nail Lacquer armour up base coat and once dry applied two coats of Barry M's 'White'. I then began creating an acrylic gradient using oranges and yellow shades. I then used my fine detailing brushes to create the birds and scenery. I finished it all off with my Mezmris top coat. I eventually added Wet 'N' Wilds matte top coat just for shits and giggles. Whoopsy, soap mouth.

I'm just not impressed with myself and that's how I'm feeling about most of my recent work. Its all lacking something to make it a little more special.. Hmm! Fingers crossed this week gives me back my passion and inspiration.

The Dragon Portal - Freehand Nail Art

How are you all doing today? I hope you've had a fantastic week are looking forward to some weekend fun? It's been rather chaotic here, I feel like there are hardly two minutes in the day for non housework stuff!

Today's nail art was something that came to me rather randomly.. Do you remember my 'through the keyhole' manicure? Well I wanted to play with the idea of a design within a design again. This time I did it as a portal, it may look like a normal beautiful day in the meadow but when you look through the portal its a pretty sunset with a dragon – His tail is out of the portal so do you think he's made his way out of the portal?!

Someone better go warn the unsuspecting villagers.. 

For this manicure I began with my beloved Mezmris Nail Lacquer base coat, which dries in the blink of an eye. I then applied two smooth coats of Barry M's 'White' to give myself a nice clean canvas for my freehand nail art. I applied a thin coat of Pro-FX to create a barrier between my paint and polish and once dry moved onto my acrylic paints. I created my skies using acrylic-gradients and did my finer details with a detailing brush. I finished it all off with my Mezmris Nail Lacquer Armour Up top coat; And because I am me I also tested to see how it looked matte of course!

Freehand Kermit & Friends Nail Art

How are you doing today? I hope your batteries are recharged and your feeling fit and ready for a new week. I'm throwing myself back into fitness – I get myself into a good pattern and then I get sick..the pattern stops and I'm back to where I was.. so today it's time to start over again!

Today's manicure makes me kinda unhappy! I painted this on Saturday because I really wanted to take part in the next Tiny Canvas challenge, our theme being frogs. I had so

much trouble with it (and not even the Kermit nail!!) By the end I was really sick of seeing it and was so glad it was over with, it felt like such a long amount of time was spent on it without having the happy feelings after! 

I think my nail art shows when my heart isn't fully in it.

As the drill goes I began with my base coat, I applied my Mezmris Nail Lacquer base and once dry (in the blink of an eye, hey look, that rhymed!) and painted two fine coats of Barry M's 'White'.

Once this was dry I applied a thin coat of Pro-FX's top coat because... I like to separate my acrylics from my polish for no real reason, I'm just odd. Once all this was dry I moved onto my acrylic paints, creating a medium to light blue sky or as I like to call it.. 'acrylic-gradients'. The rest is self explanatory! I then finished it all off with Mezmris Nail Lacquer's top coat for an ultra glossy shine and eventually added Wet'N'Wild's matte top coat some time after just out of curiosity!

I think my little frogs look terrible but the harder I fussed and kept on the worse they got. So this is the end result. What do you guys think? Do they even look like frogs?

Freehand Girly Hearts And Bows

Happy weekend to you all! I hope you are all doing great and have some fun things to look forward to this weekend? I'm planning some nice quiet painting time this weekend (this week has been really slow on the nail art front.)

Lastnight Mr Bravo took me out to dinner, a Greek restaurant! The food was so good! But not only that..it all was all just lovely! With my eye looking almost back to normal (there are eyelashes still going through and I shampoo them multiple times a day) I wore make up for the first time in forever! We don't get to do things like this too often..so it was wonderful :)

Today's nail art is really random and was painted while I was in England. I also apologise I don't really remember what I used.. what a fail. This is why I normally jot things down in scheduled posts before they go live because my memory is the worst! 

I really can't remember what I used.. I have a feeling that the blue is Rimmel's 'Pillow Talk and 'Neon Fest' but I might be wrong... Oppsie. Oh but looks like I used Catrice's 'Matte & More' - yay for bottle shots for the forgetful!

I was incredibly low on time so I wanted to create something fun and fast, I tried to create gradient hearts with my acrylic paints and opted for a bright accent nail with a freehand bow.

I feel a little guilty because normally I can at least describe my actions little better but hey...July feels like 900 years ago. I'm getting old, ok?! I got a case of goldfish brain going on!

Also guys, if you have any suggestions of anything you'd like to see on my nails don't hesitate to leave it in a comment. If I can do it, or it inspires me I'll certainly try :)
