How are you all doing today, has anything exciting happened during the start of your week?

Rolling with the constant chances I got my hair all cut off yesterday! FINALLY. Freedom! I really like what my hair dresser did with it too. The pile of hair on the floor was unreal. If you wanna see some before and after pictures you'll find them at the bottom of the post. I feel like I'm getting myself back!

There are so many beautiful, delicate and well executed mermaid manicures floating around at the moment – its even the current theme over on Tiny Canvas... I guess I had to go and ruin it because I didn't feel like painting something nicey-nice..

This bieesh will sink your ship and drink your tears... We'll remember this as the day Ariel couldn't come out to play.

 

Haha. I.. er.. Welcome to the dark part of my brain! I don't like her as much as the last mermaid I did but I guess she's got some attitude, right?

I started this manicure by applying my Nail Envy base coat from OPI. Once dry I added two coats of China Glaze's 'White On White' (new favourite white!) I used my metallic acrylic paints to sort of dab on various colours for my moody sky and created the rest with my fave 'WhatsUpNails' brush.

I kinda like how this came out. I am going to hedge a bet that this will flop on IG, Land of the beautiful mermaid nails. Seriously though, there are some really beautiful designs out there!

Its fun to try different things, don't you think?

Here's my hair adventure. My hair is naturally VERY thick, wavy, curly.. I had wanted it short for a long time but felt restricted.. Now since I'm making so many changes, BAM!

Mermaid Nail Art Collaboration with The Fabulous Dani, IG: Stormysway79

I hope you are all doing great, did you have an exciting weekend? Of course I know some of you are still celebrating July 4^th so I hope you are having a fantastic time, stay safe and have fun!

Today's post has a little gooey warm spot in my heart because I got to collaborate with a really dear friend. I met Dani aka Stormysway79 on IG, around the beginning of the year when I was invited by another naily to join her Facebook page, Tiny Canvas. Dani owns the page and it is a wonderful community with a fantastic friendly vibe.

Dani does a fantastic job at keep the page going, posting optional weekly challenges (there's a new one each week and its not mandatory to enter but the themes are so good they end up giving me new ideas to paint!) Not only that, but Dani is also responsible for creating so many friendships in the nail community and for bringing people together. She works incredibly hard and I am so proud and happy to have met her! She's got a kickass sense of humor too ;)

So when she suggested doing a nail collaboration how could I resist?! Our chosen theme was mermaids, you'll see our inspiration picture below. I am in love with Dani's version! I can't say so much about mine, Haha, I struggled!

 For my version of this nail art I began with my usual base coat of OPI's 'Nail Envy' and once dry applied Claire's 'Splash' (Suitably named for this mani, huh?) From there on I moved onto my acrylics and created a very rough and choppy background using blues and greens. I decided to do my mermaid on my thumb so I could try and fit more detail in... Probably the worst idea ever Because my fingers can't bend the way they need to to join her up.. so she looks a bit drunk!

I'm quite disappointed with how my version came out (this was my second attempt but I am still dealing with the blurry eyes so I will go easy on myself!) I'm so glad I did this collab because Dani is awesome and it was fun to do!

The Little Mermaid Nails - Freehand

Oh - feet! ♪

Inspired by two pins on Pinterest which you can see HERE and HERE.

For this manicure I began by creating a gradient using Picture Polishe's 'Wisteria', Sally Hansen's 'Lilac Heart', I also used a polish from Yes Love and Collection but I am failing right now to think which ones! I then created – or attempted to paint Ariel with acrylic paints. I finally sponged on a little of of Barry M's 'Glitterazi'. I finished it all off by applying my Nail Girls top coat.

I'm actually deeply unhappy with this manicure. There where bubbles and the glitter..doesn't look like glitter at all! Its not...as magical as I wanted it to be. I think more shimmer or sparkle in the sky somehow would have improved this manicure, what do you think?

With A Splashy Of Her Tail, I Saw Her Mermaid-y Scales!

The beach was deserted as she strolled along the white sandy beach. It was 6.30pm and the tourists had cleared off leaving the idyllic spot all for herself. She stopped by one of the deckchairs and removed her clothing down to her swim suit. She was glad for the calm and silence as she made her way to the waters edge. The water was glorious, like a tepid warm bath as she began to wade in deeper. She let herself fall back into the water and floated on her back for a while losing herself in tranquilly... ”Oi, You there!” called a shrill but happy voice. Huh, she thought the beach had been deserted...”Over here!” With the shimmer of a scaley tail she could see now who had been calling out. A beautiful young woman with the tail of a fish that gleamed and glistened in the evening sun. Her coral coloured hair splayed beautifully all around her in the water. Stunned, she blinked her eyes not sure if what she was seeing could even be true. ”Nice to meet you, my name is Ethal!” she said reaching for a handshake. “H..Hello..My name is Ithi. Are you... Can it be true that - ..Are you a mermaid?!" she replied still in disbelief. ”Well I don't gots no feets, that's for sure.” replied Ethal in an unusual manner. ”I have to go now, My girlfriends and I are going shoe shopping at the water outlet...its the best mall undersea. I'd hate to keep them waiting! Maybe I will see you again sometime!” and with a splash of her tail, she ducked under water and she watched as the beautiful glittery scales faded out of sight and deep into the sea.

”Ok, It was nice to meet y-...wait, what? Shoe shopping?... But you...You don't gots no feets..I mean..You do not have any feet.. But you have a tail...shoes? Whut..." she called out in disbelief but the mermaid had already gone.

For this manicure I started with two coats of Zoya's 'Charla' on my thumb, index and pinkie fingers. I then used tape to add Essie's 'Mezermised' and once dried I stamped using Barry M's 'Silver Foil with MoYouNail's 128 plate. To finish these nails I added Fogan's '17' to the tips. On my middle and ring finger I used two coats of Barry M's 'Mist' and created a ruffian nail using Pretty Serious 'Crystal lake and topped it all of with some blue gems.
