Pretty In Pinky Polka Dots

How are you doing today? I hope you are having a great weekend? Tell me something random about it! I can tell you that compared to the list of things I wanted to achieve.. I practically got nothing done! But I'm ok with it, I didn't have a freak out about my lack of productivity. I'll make it up today with lots of housework and a swatch-a-thon. Or a freehand design. Who knows! Yesterday they were painting the whole downstairs so I was pretty much confined to the bedroom on the third floor, the perfect painting opportunity! But I just didn't have it in me.

Here's something positive that happened to me last week: I got back into working out and I didn't die  (I took a break when my eye was very bad as it affected me alot and the whole England thang)- Yeah, I can do this!

Today I have a really simple and girly manicure to share with you.

For this manicure I began with three coats of Catrice's 'Love Affair in Bel Air' and created a gradient by sponging on Barry M's 'White'. Next I created my bows with acrylic paint and added polka dots to all the nails with my dotting tool. Finally I added some gleequins...glequins? And a stud to my other nails. See, really simple nail art!

What do you think of my girly nails? Do you prefer 3D bows to stick on such as studs or stickers, or hand drawn bows?

Gleaming Oceanic Gradient

Happy Sunday to you all, are you having a good day? Do you believe in lazy Sunday's? I have to admit I've been exceptionally lazy today but I am still feeling exhausted. I'm certainly due a nice cup of coffee, I think! Besides painting my nails, having a quick tidy up, watching Trophy Wife (A new series which doesn't seem too bad) and playing FarmVille 2 - my guilty secret addiction...Don't tell anyone! Today I have a very quick and simple manicure to show you featuring my all time favorite colour ~ Blue!

On my ring finger I applied two coats of Maybelline's 'Ocean Blue' and applied some blue 'Gleequins' which I picked up a while ago from the Born Pretty Store. I arranged them into a kind of triangle shape. On all my other nails I started with two coats of Picture Polishes 'Mirage' (Such a beautiful, beautiful shade ~ Remember my review?) I then used Anny's 'Bikini Girl Blue' to create a shimmery gradient. I continued the manicure by using Kiss nail art stripe pen in black and added more blue 'gleequins' along the line I had created.

The Plush Princess

Allo polish Pals! How are you doing today? Tuesday already? Slow down! I'll be traveling back to Holland on Sunday...four weeks has gone too quick. Today I came up with a glitter/gold combo I was crazy about but couldn't get it quite right. I had an image of how I wanted it to be. I added gold stamping but it didn't seem fitting, I tried various ways of adding the glitter and even there I wasn't 100% sure. In the end I settled for this and while I find the combination really pretty in real life the lighting throws off how pretty it is when it catches the light naturally. Ready for some glitter overload?

How 'A Cut Above' gleams in low light.

On my Thumb and middle finger I started with two coats of Barry M's 'Gold Foil'. I then used tape to create the criss cross pattern and applied Essie's 'The Lace Is On' on top; Before removing the tape I added the beautiful Essie Glitter 'A Cut Above'. On my index and pinkie I reversed the the colours. Finally I added a circular pattern of golden 'Gleequins' on my ring finger and topped it all off with my top coat. In hindsight I wish I had applied the gleequin nail not so close to the glitter to 'break' things up.

What do you think of this manicure? Too much shine? Do you like pairing glitter with tape manicures?

Frosty Flowers ~ Pigments and One Stroke Attempt

How are you doing, are you nearly ready for Christmas?! I've been having a great time here in England, it's been great to see my family. Today I got to spend the afternoon with my three year old niece who is such a sweetie! Since I have hardly any nail polish with me I decided to try some more acrylic paint flowers. I have to say that I'm hit and miss on this manicure. In real life it looks interesting and quite pretty when the gleequin hit the light but in the photo's where they don't shine much it looks rather dull. I'd like to have seen this with a matte top coat.. but yeah, I forgot to pack that too...

On all my nails I started with two coats of Rimmel's 'Blue Eyed Girl'. I then used a mixture of blue and purple eye shadow pigments on top of the wet polish. I attempted some 'one stroke' flowers using white and acrylic paint, added dots to the center of each one and finally placed a few silver gleequin's in around the flowers. On my index and ring finger I added a simple tiny flower.

What do you think of this manicure? Success or disaster? I'm having to try and think of very creative ideas since I lack the appropriate tools!

Phoenix Feather's Water Marble Nails

How are you doing today? I hope your having a great week, we're almost at the weekend again, phew! I'm recovering from my cold again and decided that with the drab gloomy weather here in Holland I needed something warm and vibrant on my fingies! Today's manicure is inspired by the legendary Phoenix! It occurred to me after I finished this that phoenixes may not appreciate the fact I chose to do a water marble.. Don't get a phoenix wet if you want to be in its good books!

On my ring finger I painted two coats of Rimmel's 'Reggae Splash' and created a phoenix feather using Mash nail art pen in black for the stem and China Glaze's 'Red Satin', DA '#202' and DA '# 205' for the feathers. On my other nails I painted two coats of China Glaze's 'Sunshine Pop!' and created a water marble using Picture Polishes 'Fake Tan' and China Glaze 'Red Satin'. I finished by adding a few pinky diamond 'Gleequins' from the Born Pretty Store.

I chose to use the Gleequins as whenever I move my hand in the light they just sparkle like floating embers! I just thought it was too pretty not to pair together!
