Did you know that yesterday was 'ice cream soda day'? Apparently so! I on the other hand though.. seemed to paint ice cream sundae's rather than soda's!

On Thursday my store hosted a beauty gala event which was so much fun, We had loads of people come in with their tickets and enjoy make overs, refreshments, discounts across cosmetics and fragrance. It was so much fun to be apart of.

Did you know that June 12^th is red rose day? I love discovering all these little quirky days of the year! June 12^th just so happens to be my mothers birthday too so putting the two together seemed like an awesome idea and little tribute.

I absolutely adore my mother, I know everyone says that but without her I wouldn't be here (and not just because she gave me life!) She's supported me through the years in every way possible, through my teenage years when I suffered deep depression and self harm, she never lots her patience with me. She's encouraged me and nurtured my creative side and is one of the kindest people I know. She'll always go out of her way for people and has a wonderful heart. Thank you Skeebab.

Freehand Soot Sprite Nail Art

How are you all doing today? I hope your week is going well. I'm working most of this week – means I get Saturday off, wahoo! I'm already trying to work out what I'll be painting on my days off although when it actually comes to it I find my oompf is lacking. Just like on Sunday, I started painting some beach hut nails and I just couldn't make myself finish it. My heart wasn't in it..

But today I have some cute little soot sprites to share with you, I used to love Studio Ghibli films such as Howl's Moving Castle, Spirited Away.. And I always thought those little soot sprites were so cute! So I've captured them!

Freehand Spring Flowers & Easter Chicken

How are ya all doing? I hope you've had a fantastic week – are you excited for the weekend? Its Easter weekend and while I don't have a lot planned (working a short shift today) I am looking forward to a nice Sunday lunch with my family.

Also.. Tomorrow I have a job interview. Since my current employment is temporary (or is it?) I decided I'll go and see how it goes. I'd love to stay on where I am currently but I feel like I can't pin all my hopes on it after last time.

Anyway! If your celebrating Easter or not, I hope you'll have a fantastic weekend! Now lets have some spring-kissed nails!

 

UR Sugar Color Coat Soak Off UV & LED Nail Polish Review

I hope ya all do'odlin' well my Sweetpeas! Is this week going your way?

Yesterday I had a blood test – the first since the doctor said I am pre-diabetic..But I wont get the results until next Tuesday. It's going to be a mission to not worry about it until then but I know any worrying wont change the results. I just have to keep positive in knowing I've made so many lifestyle changes. I've also been looking into how to start my career in the nail industry. although I feel like everything I research contradicts..I'm so lost over it but I wont give up.

 

Today I have a review for you from URSugar, a store which I have no previous experience with. I decided to try another of those gel posts since I really enjoyed the last one, and am still pretty new to applying them. I thought this would be a great product to review and see if it lived up to the previous one I had tried. This is 'UR Sugar Color Coat UV & Gel Polish in#D012'.

Freehand 'French-Doodle' Doodle Tipped Nail Art

I hope you are all having great mid-week feelings, there's so much to smile about!

Today's manicure comes straight from my brain and onto my nails! I didn't know if this idea existed so I wanted to give it a go. I'm calling it... ”The French-Doodle”.. or the Froodle??!

What is it, I hear you asking. Well its a typical looking French manicure transformed by the whimsical and artistic touch of doodles! Tada! Hashtag #TRENDING - Probably not but isn't it an unusual design?

For this manicure I used only my OPI Nail Envy base coat, Catrice's 'Karl Says Tres Chic' pink nail polish and my acrylic paints. This one was so fun to do, I didn't have any plans for the doodle part of the design. In hindsight I wish I had added a whole arrange of items into the doodles but hey... I can do that another time!

Freehand Little Red Riding Hood Nail Art

I hope you are all doing super, super, super! Are ya?

I'm back in Holland! I had a great time at home although I did find out I am pre-diabetic which was..well. Quite a shock, however on the plus side finding out this now is a good thing as I can totally make changes to reverse this.

I'm actually really happy with the nail art I am going to share with you today. I had had this idea in my mind for a couple of years but I kept putting it off as I didn't think I do my idea justice.. well. It was time to come back to it and give it a fair go!

I wanted to create a very dark looking version of the Little Red Riding Hood; I don't think she has any idea he's slinking along behind her, do you?

I used OPI's Nail Envy for my base coat and applied two smooth coats of Barry M's 'White' nail polish for my painting canvas. I added a thin coat of my Pro-FX top coat as a nice anchor for my acrylic to stick to.

For this manicure I played heavily with black and white acrylic paint, doing my best to mix all the shades of grey in between to create strong contrasts. Of course I needed a few flecks of red here and there.

I don't think my wolf looks particularly scary but he is pretty big, I think i'd have a fright if I turned around and saw him following me. He's pretty fluffy though so I'd probably try and hug him!

Freehand Parrot & Feather Nail Art

How are you all doing today? I hope this weekend has been going great for you so far? Don't forget to enter my giveaway if you have not already, its open internationally so everyone has a chance!

I've been having a great time with my family - I've been doing a lot of babysitting as my Niece is now off school for the Easter break however its not hard work, she may only be six but she's a delight to spend time with and what I love is that she doesn't want to sit in front of the Tv! We've been doing glitter craft projects, board games, playing in the garden!

Today I have another design for you which was created for the weekly challenge over at Tiny Canvas – I love that these prompts are pushing me to do things I might not normally do. I had a whole kafuffle over this week's bird theme – mostly as I tried to paint this just before leaving for my trip home to England.

Eventually I created something I was satisfied with however, tragedy struck. For some reason my top coat looks like it scraped away the acrylic paint.. how... why?! I have come to love and depend on my Pro-FX top coats so I am praying that it is a one off and maybe somehow I made a mistake I don't usually. Weird, right?

I was still really pleased with my parrot though (even though his eye patch had also turned pinky - why?!) so I decided to share it with you guys anyway. I am going to call him Monty :)

I didn't use anything too excited or unusual for this manicure, I began with my Mezmris Nail Lacquer base coat, Armor Up and once dry applied two coats of my Barry M 'White' nail polish. I allowed a little more time to dry and added a thin coat of my Pro-FX top coat to create a nice smooth barrier. I then moved on to my acrylic paints and brushes to create the parrot and details. Finally I finished with another coat of Pro-FX and eventually applied a matte top coat too just for shiz and giggles!

Freehand Crayola Wax Crayon Nail Art

I hope you are having a wonderful start to the week and thank you for joining me on it! I am wishing you all a really fun, productive and smashing week, kicking off with lots and lots of beautiful sunshine.

Today's nail art is inspired by another weekly challenge prompt over at Tiny Canvas (Come join if you are looking for a fun, friendly, no drama nail art group!) Our theme this week was Crayola nail art as it is actually 'Crayola Day' on the 31^st of March.

I'd have liked to have shared this nail art closer to the date however I've got posts I can not shuffle around!

I've got to thank Crayola because they are probably the first proper art supplies I owned or used (as a kid, obviously) I used to have huge collections of wax crayons and pencils. So thanks Crayola for sparking my creativity at such a young age!

I began with my OPI 'Nail Envy' base coat for this manicure.

This nail art is simply freehand on a base of Barry M's 'White' nail polish. This time I really tried to make it look as though there are shadows underneath the crayons to add more depth and make them look 3D. I finished this one off with my Barry M matte top coat which finished off the job beautifully – I think the matte finish really suits the waxy crayons!

Freehand Gel & Holographic Foil Panda Nail Art

How are you all doing today? I hope your week has been going smoothly so far?

Today I have another weekly challenge manicure from Tiny Canvas . This week our theme was Panda's as the 16^th of March is Panda day. I've not done Panda nail art since 2015, you can see my old panda nail art here.

If you are wondering what Tiny Canvas is it is a closed nail art group over on Facebook, its a wonderful nail community run by Dani and currently has over 7,000 members. It's also where I help out as a moderator. Other lovely things about Tiny Canvas would be how friendly and warm the members are, how helpful and kind all the other moderators and admin are. There are also the weekly challenges as I have mentioned, birthday draws and many of the members can offer so much help with nail art, I've learnt rather a lot.

For this manicure I actually used gel polish – look, I'm learning new stuff! 2017, Lets be brave!

I started of course with my Mezmris Nail Lacquer base coat and once dry applied two coats of Essence's 'Rebel at heart'. I then applied a light coat of Barry M's 'Diamond Glitter' and again waited for this to dry.

Next I applied a layer of nail foil glue and once the white glue had dried transparent I added my leafy holo foil on top.

The final few steps where to apply BlueSky gel top coat on top, cure it under my lamp and remove the tacky layer. I then created my nail art on top (not the wisest idea to paint directly onto gel!) and sealed it all in with my Pro-FX top coat.

Black, White And Gold Leaf With Freehand Stripes

How are you all doing today?

I hope everything is going great for you so far, have you been up to much? Do let me know!

I've been doing so much walking, I've been averaging around 14,000/15,000 steps a day and it feels good!

Today's manicure is a fairly simple design that I created during the end of my visit in England. I didn't have a lot of time but I did want to create something. This was the product of that odd hour and a half. :)

For this manicure I began with my Mezmris Nail Lacquer base coat, 'Armor Up' (If you are in the UK and looking for a great top coat I highly recommend it!) and painted all my nails with two coats of Barry M's 'White'.

I then began drawing very thing grey lines with my acrylic paints and my beloved Pure Color brush in size #9. On one side of the nail I applied some varying sizes of gold leaf/foil and on the opposite side I filled it in with black acrylic paint. On top of this I added some alternating thin lines in gold paint. To give a little more variation to this manicure I freehanded a bow on my ring finger nail.

I finished by sealing everything in with my Mezmris Nail Lacquer top coat, 'Armor'.

I feel like this has a kind of classy monochrome look to it, I'm not sure why it makes me think of the great Gatsby/art deco look. What do you think?

Happy Christmas! Freehand Sweet Santa Claus Nail Art

Freehand Rainbow Prism & Winter Sweater (Fair Isle) Nail Art

Are you all doing well? I hope the week has been treating you well! If not, don't worry. We're almost at the weekend! Tomorrow is actually my birthday so while this weekend will be quite nice it also does mean going back to Holland on Sunday. I am looking forward to seeing Mr Bravo and everybody but saying goodbye at the airport never gets any easier. Also I need your hugs, I've had my second cold since I've been home, this time round its killer.. :(

Still.. there's lots to look forward to so no dwelling!

Today's manicure is probably really typical of me (sorry!) I figured there are so many sweater style manicure's floating around the internet.. why can't there be rainbows too?!

So for this manicure I began with the remaining drips of my Nail Envy base coat by OPI. Oh how I miss my Mezmris Armor Up! I then applied two coats of Barry M's 'White' nail polish and allowed to dry. Once dry I added a thin coat of my Pro-FX top coat and again allowed to dry. I then began the painstaking job of adding a triangle of each colour to my nails, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple and pink and then began mixing colours to try and blend them together.  I then attempted to add a Fair Isle pattern on three nails and added snowflakes to the others and again sealed with my top coat.

I should have tried this matte but I didn't.. instead I added a scattered holo top coat which while looked beautiful in the light didn't really do much to enhance this manicure. So.. no perfect smooth matte version, boo.

What do you guys think of this rainbowy, wintery combination!? Do you like mixing styles up?

3D Diamond Nail Art Studs (9 Colours, 5mm) - Born Pretty Store Review

How are you all doing today? I hope you are doing well and have a lovely weekend planned! What will you be up to? I think it's going to be a cosy one.

Some of my family are going to a wedding so I wont see the kids very much this weekend but I get to spend time with my parents which makes me happy. My mum has taken up knitting recently so its quite nice to sit together, I paint while she knits. Hobby corner!

Today I have another review for you, this time I am showing you...*Inhales deeply* '9Colours, 5mm 3D Nail Decoration Colorful Rhinestone Sharp BottomManicure Nail Art Decoration'... *gasps for air * Or in shorter words... Mixed coloured Diamond Nail Art Studs. These are come from The Born Pretty Store.

I picked these studs to review as I love different looking studs and diamond shapes are no exception. I like how easy it is to create unique looks with these types of studs. I didn't plan this very well though as I had the idea to sort of stack/sit them with normal flat studs so I could position them differently..but I forgot to pack more studs!

This nail decoration wheel contains 9 different compartments and has emerald, pink, clear, cloudy clear, clear reflecting rainbow, light green, muted pink, bright blue and a sort of lilac shades. You get approximately 45 studs in this wheel and they measure 5mm. They are not as large as these diamond studs I reviewed previously, which I am glad about as this size is much more manageable.

The wheel is slightly different to any I have ever owned previously, rather than twisting the top transparent lid to get to the designed stud compartment the entire lid is hinged and slides off so all the compartments are open, so be warned if you tend to keep your studs in a loose place such as a bag or box that gets moved a lot as if it moves your studs may fall out.

Overall though I am really happy with this little nail wheel, I love the beautiful colours of the studs and I love how nicely they catch the light. I would certainly recommend playing around with them to find unique ways of placing them..unlike me.

I better get my seasons in tune..

I've slowly and reluctantly began making winter themed nail art.. but I'm just not feeling it. Brr.

Freehand Cornucopia Happy Thanksgiving Nail Art

How are you all doing today? I hope you've been having a great week so far!

Today I am bringing you some early Thanksgiving nails. I've never actually featured Thanksgiving nails on the blog before so I really wanted to do it this year. You may be wondering why I am posting this on the 23^rd instead of the 25^th.. well.. I have something planned for Friday. Opps.

So these are my early 'Happy Thanksgiving' nail art to all those of you who will be celebrating. I hope you have a wonderful time with your loved ones!

Incase you are wondering, what is Cornucopia? “The cornucopia is typically a hollow, horn-shaped wicker basket filled with various seasonal fruits and vegetables”.

Apologies for the state of my nails/skin.. Time to really slather on the hand cream for me.

For this manicure I began with my fave top coat, Mezmris Nail Lacquer (Btw, Sammi's gift sets are available for order until the 10^th December, the polishes are holotastic! It would make a great gift for any nail addict!) and once dry I applied my very sticky and old Barry M 'White' (literally on my last drops of decent white polish, ha.) On my thumb and pinky I added a little gold/copper foil to the tips by carefully scrunching it up and dabbing it on. I then sealed the foil with an old top coat. Next I moved onto my freehand design, using acrylic paints and my fave Pure Color brush in size 9.

I finished it all off with my Pro-FX top coat and eventually tried my Wet 'N' Wild matte top coat too.

What do you guys think of my Cornucopia nail art? Will you be celebrating, if you so do you have any traditions? I wish the writing looked better but in all honesty I didn't get the amount of time I would have liked to have dedicated to this manicure :(

Freehand Brontosaurus Dinosaur Nail Art!!

How are you all doing today? I hope you are having a wicked start to the weekend!

Today's nail art is a little hit and miss, I created this for Tiny Canvas's (Best nail community on Fcebook, everyone is so nice! Its a great place to make naily friends) weekly challenge.

This theme was for dinosaurs, I don't think I've ever done dinosaurs before so I thought I'd give it a bash! Unluckily I scraped my nail just as I was about to take pictures and it took out a chunk of my dino's tale.. Matte top coat seemed to disguise it a little!!

For this manicure I began with my base coat of Mezmris Nail Lacquer, which dries almost instantly. Seriously, I love how fast I can move on since my base is usually white and I need to get on to the freehand! I then use two coats of Barry M's 'White'. I then used my Pro-FX top coat to create a barrier (Why? Who knows. I can't say there's any specific science behind my actions.) I then used my fave brushes and acrylic paints to create the scene. I finished off with Mezmris Nail Lacquer's Armor top coat and then applied the matte from Wet 'N' Wild which totally saved the day!

I feel like I was abit sloppy with with background, I was very distracted on this day.. I tried! I also wanted a badass dino on my thumb but I sort of bottled out, maybe next time... But it was fun to do and a new experience!

If you are ever looking to challenge yourself the weekly challenges at Tiny Canvas are great, its not mandatory to enter but having different themes and prompts can put you out of your comfort zone and in turn you might surprise yourself!

Freehand Syncronized Swimmers - Mighty IG Olympic Collab

How are you all doing? I hope you had a fantastic week! I think this weekend will be much more quieter and homey than last weekend. What do you have planned?

Last month or so I was invited by the ever so wonderful Dani, (@Stormysway97 On IG - Owner of Facebook's 'Tiny Canvas') to take part in a huuuge Olympic collaboration over on Instagram. The wonderful thing about this collaboration is that I have made so many new friends and met some amazing nail artists that I might not have discovered other wise!!

Dani gave us a massive picture showing all the sports that take part at the Olympics and we were all able to pick which one we would like to represent on our nails. I decided to go for synchronized swimming because I thought I could draw lots of teeny tiny cute ladies! My ladies turned out a little like rag dolls but to be fair... fitting 4 or so entire bodies on one nail isn't the easiest challenge I've faced.

I began with my usual base coat of OPI's 'Nail Envy' and once dry applied two smooth coats of Barry M's 'White'. I applied a thin coat of my Pro-FX top coat and then moved on to my acrylics, starting with different shades of blue to create the water. I decided to have some floating ladies all joining hands, some doing arm movements. I sealed it all in with my Pro-FX top coat and added Wet 'N' Wild's matte top coat because I love seeing freehand matte!  It was also mandatory to include the Olympic symbol in our designs so I added it to one of my ladies!

Considering how small they were I am quite happy with this design, I think they came out fairly cute. Sure I can see a few brush strokes gone crazy here and there with their facial features but all in all.. I kinda like it!

Freehand Pokemon Go Go Go! Mew Nails

How are you all doing today? I hope you are having a fabulous week so far.

Not much to really tell you about here, things are slowly slipping back to the normal routine. I had a lovely bike ride in the sunshine yesterday after a very unproductive day (everything was just going wrong) and the fresh air felt wonderful. I actually went pretty far, further than I have before!

Guys... you know you can tell me anything, right? Have you tried Pokémon Go? Even a little bit?

It is HUGE here in Holland.. and well..the rest of the world it seems. I can actually pick out who is playing it. If your not tapping, or swiping you are probably on a pokexpiditon! I was a huge Pokemon kid back in the day. Gosh I feel old saying that. I remember when the original gameboy games came out, I'd spend hours sat in a tree in a field with my best friend swapping and playing Pokémon in the sun! You'd always have to hope that no one would notice the tv remote batteries are gone and that they would last through mighty gym battles, baha! I was a good kid..

Since its been so crazy-popular I decided it was only right to do some sort of Pokémon nail art.

I decided to paint Mew because I always thought he was so cute and cuddly looking. I also went for the Masterball because... well yeah. You need one to catch him :)

For this manicure I began with my favorite base coat of OPI's 'Nail Envy' (Although I may have been converted) and once dry applied two coats of Barry M's 'White'. I locked that down with my Pro-FX top coat. Next I used variations of purples and blues to create a water colour look. You can see my video on how to do that here. I then freehanded Mew and the pokéball using my favorite brushes and acrylic paints. I also added a ton of stars but they didn't show up too well..

I kinda wish I had gone much bolder with the background, I think Mew is a little washed out. I also had a ton of trouble with his eyes which I'm a bit 'meh' about... Still. Pokémon nails!
