Freehand Drippy Pastels And Henna Pattern

How are you doing today? I hope your week has started out nicely?

I feel like I say this all the time but I've just not been feeling so great lately. Some of you know I have a stomach syndrome and lately my whole food relationship has just not been great – because of it I am not focusing as well as I like to with my freehand designs, everything I do has left me really...”Oh..that's it?” when it comes to looking at my pictures.

I'm going to take today and Wednesday off from painting, hopefully on Thursday I can come up with something I am actually happy with! You know I hate posting things I think are not good enough to show you! 

This manicure was a little off. I should have made my henna pattern one shade lighter so it stood out more but hey.. It is still kind of effective! Also, where it looks like there is no pattern on my thumb I promise there was! No idea what happened there, haha.

For this manicure I began with my favorite base coat, OPI's 'Nail Envy' and once dry applied two slick coats of Fearne's 'Night Owl', a gorgeous black with subtle silver tones (Oil slick would have been a cute name for it) I then began mixing acrylic paint and started painting on my drips. Finally I mixed some dark grey paint and began to freehand this henna inspired pattern. I finished it all off with Pro-FX top coat and applied Barry M's matte top coat.

I think its a shame the pattern is so subtle. I guess with a bright light on while painting I didn't think it would look so subtle. But its there, none the less!

VIP Freehand Henna Flowers

How has your week been? Give me one fact that made you smile so far this week! Ah, I love it when we share random snippets, even if it means I am just throwing questions at you! I have another manicure that was created while I was in England, and actually the last. I was a busy little bee, huh? ~ Shame the productivy is at a stand still now I am home...It was an amazing change to paint at a table, to have good lighting, to actually sit on a chair (If you don't know, my nail art is normally created in the bedroom, sitting on the bed with a cardboard box as a table...yeah, you get the idea!) My mum very kindly treated me to a few new polishes while I was home, one I picked up myself was Barry M's 'VIP' and I just had to try it ASAP!

For this manicure I began with three coats of Barry M's 'VIP' on all my nails excluding my ring finger. I then used black acrylic paint to create my teeny tiny Henna inspired flower designs and added a little bit of gold here and there. My ring finger was an incredibly rushed job (I was running behind on time) so I left it as a simple angled French manicure with Barry M's 'Black Berry'.

I just fell in love with VIP and I really wanted to create something with it. I'm really happy with how my flowers came out but I wish I had done something nicer on my ring finger. Too bad!

Freehand Acrylic Henna Flowers - BPS Brush Experiments.

How are you today? A while a go (and this is testament of how much I love the Born Pretty Store) treated myself to a few more goodies. Among them was *this* bamboo detailing brush. I got mine for just $1.95. I had been looking for a good brush to do extra small things with and I can tell you I am not disappointed. I'm still getting to learn how to use this brush. In trial and error I discovered that the brush can hold a lot of water if I didn't blot the tip enough but I decided to have an experiment and to share it with you even if the manicure is not so...wow.

Not as neat as I would of liked but that will come with practice I hope :)

I only used one coloured polish for this manicure. I started with my beloved Nail Envy by OPI and applied two coats of Collection's 'Fool's Gold'. I then used OPI's matte top coat and attempted to create a Henna inspired manicure using black acrylic Oumaxi paint and my new brush.

To look at this manicure in person it was quite striking, I thought. However the camera has pointed out so many things I hate about this mani. Still, it was fun to mess around and play with my new brush. We're going to have a lot of fun together.
