Freehand Barbershop Quartet Penguin Nail Art

How ya doing on this wonderful Wednesday? I hope you are doing just dandy.

I've been keeping very active and super busy since I got back in the Netherlands, my step count has been around the 15k mark each day which makes me happy.

Today's nail art probably doesn't need any fanning. The theme for the weekly challenge over at Tiny Canvas this week is Penguins.

I'm not quite sure where the idea came from but I really wanted to paint some plump little chicks in barbershop quartet outfits! So thats what I do'ed. Yes I said Do'ed.  Sadly I sorta rushed these as they were my last nail art while I was in England.

For this manicure I began with my OPI Nail Envy base coat and once dry applied two coats of Maybelline's 'Dusty Rose' which came in a 'blush' duo my mum spoilt me with. I added a thin coat of my Pro-FX top coat to create a nice smooth barrier and began to move onto my freehand, creating white egg shapes to form the bodies of my penguins. Next I added all the details using my fave 'WhatsUp Nails' brush.

If I am entirely honest this manicure was a little rushed.. I think that's pretty obvious. I was excited to go spend time with my family so for that reason we'll overlook the sloppiness. Family First!

Because there were only four penguins I decided to add some musical notes on top because.. what else? I debated fish but I thought that would be too reminiscent of my first penguin nail art.

Swirly, Starry 4th July Nail Art

How are you all doing on this fine Thursday?  I hope you've been having a great week. I've been busy with lots of nail art but if I am honest I'm getting a lot of epic nail fails right too - I'm still using the antibiotic eye cream and while I feel like I've got some really unique idea's up my sleeve I can not see clearly enough to do the tiny detail it requires! Still. I'm doing my best to keep the nail art coming :)

Since Monday is the 4^th July, even though I do not celebrate I thought I'd do some appropriate nail art - and I really liked the outcome!  Had I been more organized I would have loved to have done several more manicures for you guys with step by step guides... I am really going to try an start doing more stuff like this for upcoming holidays, I think it would be fun!

So rather than having my 4^th July nails on the blog on Monday when those of you who are celebrating are all off partying we'll see them now - it also means if you want to try anything from my design you've got time to play around!

I don't know about you but I'm all for the matte version over the glossy.

As always I began with my usual base coat, OPI's 'Nail Envy' and once dry began applying blue, red and white polishes to my nails. The blue is Maybelline's 'Oceanic Blue', the red is 'Alluring Red' by Catrice and the white is NYC's 'Williamsburg Vintage'. For my thumb and ring finger I decided to try and create a one-stroke like swirl using blue and light blue acrylic paint. I added some freehand stars on top with white acrylic. For my Index and pinky I mixed different shades of red to create some really rough lines across my nail to give a slightly textured look. I added a small ruffian and a single white star to each nail. My middle finger is just a good ol' dotticure using the same red and blues, I think this nail really adds a little fun to the whole manicure. Finally to finish off I then applied my Wet 'N' Wild's matte top coat.

I really liked wearing this manicure, its not often I find myself wearing blue and red together but I rather like how I paired these together!

The Stargazer - Freehand Nail art

How are you doing today? I hope you are having a great week so far. I'm going to share something personal with you... maybe its weird, maybe its not. You can decide. Whenever I am outside at night time and the stars are out I always look for the brightest one, then I'll either say out loud or in my head something to all the people I consider to now be 'up' there (I'm not going into religion or beliefs, my idea of it comes off of nothing, basically... I just like to think there are little dazzling holes in the night sky that I can pass my messages through, silly perhaps. Again, I don't mean this literally...its just something that gives me comfort in doing so.) I'm not entirely sure why or when I started doing that but I guess I just like to think they know I'm thinking of them. Do you do anything like that? Anyway...In case that was just weird...! Here's some freehand nail art – The stargazer.

For this manicure I began with two coats of Guylond's light pink from my gradient set. I then created a gradient using Maybelline's 'Ocean Blue and another polish.. I'm so sorry at the point of editing I have entirely forgotten :') #howtowin  . I then created everything else with my acrylic paints and beloved bamboo brush. To finish I added a little of Barry M's 'VIP' glitter here and there and used my Catrice top coat.

This manicure was actually a little bright and more twinkly in person, my camera is a massive douche lately. Excuse me ;)

Triangle Design Fashion Studs - Born Pretty Store Review

How are you today? I hope your having a beautiful day so far. Yesterday me and Mr Bravo went to help out at his Nan's house, which probably means that I am still so full of yummy food, haha. She always feeds us up! Today I have a review for you of these adorable 'triangle design fashion studs' from The Born Pretty Store.

These cute little cut out triangle studs come in a little plastic baggie containing around 15 pieces. They measure 3mm in size – perfect for some really cute and dainty nail art. They sit nice and flatly on the nail bed and have survived a trip to the store and house work just by using a top coat to apply them. You can be really creative with them, pair two together for a diamond or even create a star shape but I chose to show them simply here. They are also really cute when paired with classic colours like Essie's 'Bobbin' For Baubles' to add a really simple but sophisticated look. I am really fond of these studs because it is just a simple way to elegantize (Yes I'm making words up..) your manicure in a fast and easy way.

For this manicure I used three polishes, Mary Kay's 'Pink Bamboo', Barry M's 'Coconut' and Maybelline's 'Gilded Rose' from the brocade collection. I created alternating chevron patterns using these colours and added my triangles to the point of my triangles. I found using my pointed tweezers allowed me to apply these studs with ease.

Gleaming Oceanic Gradient

Happy Sunday to you all, are you having a good day? Do you believe in lazy Sunday's? I have to admit I've been exceptionally lazy today but I am still feeling exhausted. I'm certainly due a nice cup of coffee, I think! Besides painting my nails, having a quick tidy up, watching Trophy Wife (A new series which doesn't seem too bad) and playing FarmVille 2 - my guilty secret addiction...Don't tell anyone! Today I have a very quick and simple manicure to show you featuring my all time favorite colour ~ Blue!

On my ring finger I applied two coats of Maybelline's 'Ocean Blue' and applied some blue 'Gleequins' which I picked up a while ago from the Born Pretty Store. I arranged them into a kind of triangle shape. On all my other nails I started with two coats of Picture Polishes 'Mirage' (Such a beautiful, beautiful shade ~ Remember my review?) I then used Anny's 'Bikini Girl Blue' to create a shimmery gradient. I continued the manicure by using Kiss nail art stripe pen in black and added more blue 'gleequins' along the line I had created.

The Not So Handsome Freehand Snow Man

How are you today? I hope your having a great weekend! I can't believe Christmas is so close now, I'm finally feeling very festive as I type this sitting beside the Christmas tree! Today's post features a little snow man who happens to look kind of like a bird... Do you ever finish a manicure and think I know I could have done that so much better? Because for me this manicure gives me that dissatisfied feeling. I created last night with only one sized brush (My choice of tools was so limited :( ) and in low light, I hadn't even noticed the bubbling that was taking place. Now that I've photographed it I feel rather eh.. meh.. about it!

I did like how Foil Flash looked with a slight blur.

 

I started with three coats of Maybelline's 'Winter Baby' on all my nails. For the snow man and features I used acrylic paint (Which just wouldn't play smoothly!) and added Maybelline's 'Foil Flash' Brocade glitter on my remaining nails. In my opinion I even hate the snow man's eyes. Sigh!

Despite wanting to completely redo this manicure until I am happy with it I have decided to keep it on because I think my Niece will like it. I guess at least one of us will!

Reconstructed Flag ~ I'm off to England!

Hope you are having a great weekend, Are you doing anything exciting? The time as finally arrived, tomorrow me and Mr Bravo will be leaving for England for four weeks. I'm still sat here painting my 'going way nails' in between packing and getting everything ready. It's going to be great to spend my Birthday (Monday, I'll be 25, crikey!) and Christmas with my family this year :) Since I already did the Union Jack nails on our last visit I decided to reconstruct it in a slightly different way!

And A Matte Version

For the Union Jack I used China Glaze's Recycle and Kiss nail art striper’s in Silver and Black. The blue is Essie's 'Lapiz of Luxury' with a layer of Essence's 'Glorious Aquarius' glitter . The red is N07's 'Devil's Delight' (I think ~ I created this last week!) topped with Rimmel's 'Ruby Crush' glitter. Finally the white on my middle finger is Maybelline's 'Winter, Baby' and Catrice's 'I'm Dynamite' glitter.

What do you think of my reconstructed UK Flag nails? I think I preferred mixing the colours and grey-scaling the flag for a change! ~ I will probably be posting again Tuesday with updates about my Birthday, Its going to be less easy to post while my polish collection is here in Holland but I'll certainly do my best!

N.NAIL Studs Silver Rock Rivet Review!

How are you all doing? Are you having a good weekend? I'm still here! I know last week's posting was incredibly awful and I apologize immensely. As I explained I was seriously stressed out and to top it all off my throat decided to swell up (which is where it is staying it seems) That aside I am looking forward to getting back to regular posts and I think I've found a way to suit me and hopefully you guys better too :) I'll also be catching up on my comments this coming week, sorry guys I suck. Anywho, today I am showing you a manicure I created using these N.Nail Silver Rock Rivets from KKCENTERHK

Why does it remind me of Eva from Disney's Wall-E?

I personally like these studs and think they give off a lovely rock chic vibe depending on how you chose to wear them. They are a great size (3.5mm) and will sit comfortably on the nail. I suggest using nail glue to adhere if you want them to last on the nail longer; obviously with this kind of nail art there's a risk it may snag on clothing or somehow come off so I think these are great for special occasions over casual wear. I only decided to wear two of the studs on my ring finger as I thought it was a good combination against the white and black white makes me think of technology..space..robots..the future. I'm not sure how I got so much from such a simple mani!

The mani! I used two coats of Maybelline's 'Winter, Baby' as a white base on all nails and applied W7's 'Black' over all nails expect my ring finger. On top of the black I then added a lucious coat of Essence's 'Cool Breeze' glitter. On my ring finger I used some small tweezers to apply two of the studs to the middle of the nail.
