Zebracorn and Rainbow Nail Art

How are you all doing today? I hope you've had an amazing weekend?

I didn't get up to much at all, I played around with some new make up I picked up at work, I love testing products out. I recently switched up my foundation to Bare Minerals and I am loving it so far. Today and until Tuesday I'll be spending some time editing posts, creating new designs before I head back to work on Wednesday.

Did you know that yesterday (Sunday 8th April depending on when you are reading this!) was 'Unicorn day' – no joke. It really exists. I've painted quite a few unicorn designs in my blogging days so I decided to shake things up a little by making a zebra-corn!

Freehand African Wild Dog Nail Art - Endangered Species

Today's nail art is once again inspired by the weekly challenge at Tiny Canvas (if you are looking to meet some of the sweetest ladies in the nail community you should join us!)

This week our prompt is endangered animals. You guys know I love animals and painting them so I was excited for this one. Of course there were far too many beauties to choose from, it was really hard to settle on which animal was I was going to paint but I decided to go for an African Wild Dog – I adore these and hadn't realised they are endangered. :(

 I feel like I made a bit of a boo-boo with this design, don't we think his ears should have been rounder and bigger? Ah well.

I also decided to try and create a textured looking fur nail by taking short brush strokes with the colours I used on his fur. I'm not a fan of animal print nail and I know this is a new level of extreme but I think it kinda looks cool... I wouldn't wear this typically but it kinda suits with the theme, don't you think?

For the remaining nails I painted a beautiful blue sky and long tall golden grass as its the sort of environmental habitat associated with them.

Silver 6ml Born Pretty Stamping Polish - Born Pretty Store Review

I hope you are having a great week so far!
We're almost into December, does it feel/look festive where you are? I have been resisting the urge to feel Christmasy for a while if I am honest but I'm feeling it inside! I'm just having a hard time trying to make winter nail art... I don't like being cold OR thinking of the cold.. I actually have beach and rainbowy nails coming up soon...Oppsie.

Anyway, today I am showing you something that is also perfect for the festive season as well as all year round. Silver always looks beautiful in manicures so lets take a look at this '6ml Born Pretty Stamping Polish' in Silver...from.. The Born Pretty Store. Statin' the obvious there, eh?

This polish comes in a cute little square bottle and contains 6ml silver stamping polish. At first I was a little surprised at the size of the bottle but for the price it is actually not bad at all, considering it is for stamping and not applying on all your nails like a regular polish it should last a pretty long time. One of the first things I noticed while using this polish is that it doesn't have a very bold distinct smell like some stamping polishes, at least no stronger than a regular polish.

The polish itself is a beautiful shade of silver. Not too dark, not too like and it stamps on the nail with a beautiful foil-like finish so it catches the light perfectly and looks really interesting against all types of colours. It is for that reason that I actually paired it with the acrylic stamping, to see how it looked against the transitioning shades.

I found this polish to pick up the image very well pretty much every time (the times it didn't can be accounted to my stamping inexperience) and it was not too annoying to clean up around the nails. No one likes metallic fingers..

I had a really good experience with this polish and if I had to repurchase in the future I totally would, silver is one of my faves to stamp with and this one is no let down.

Freehand Zebra With Print And Acrylic-Gradients

How are you doing today? I hope you all have at least one lovely thing planned for this weekend - something nice to pamper and spoil yourselves! I'm also trying really hard to stay on top of freehand designs. I love doing all types of nail art but I feel happier when I'm posting freehand and I also think maybe that's why you guys come here?

Today's manicure came pretty much from nowhere. I wanted to create something freehand but I didn't know what. In the end I decided to go for a zebra since painting my last unicorn felt pretty calm and relaxed to paint. I used only one polish for this manicure, besides base and top coats.

I began with Barry M's 'White' on all my nails and decided to create a pinky, orange and yellow gradient on certain parts of the nails and as a background for my zebra. I created everything freehand without any striping tape (probably not the wisest idea?) and finished it all off with my Pro-FX top coat.

Something really weird happened which is a total new in my freehanding experience. Slowly over time my zebra began to turn yellow! Its not too bad in these pictures (You can see it in places if you look for it) but by the end of the day he was pretty yellow. I've never seen my acrylics do that before, ha! It hasn't happened since, either. How odd.

Freehand Golden Retriever Puppy Pile

How are you doing today? Tell me, have you ever been so close to an animal, a family pet who you felt close to growing up, or even a pet now that might be your 'baby'? I've had cats and dogs over the years that have amazed me with their personalities. Growing up I had golden retrievers and cats. Even though I had friends as a child, my furry friends would be around to confide in and offer support without judgement, to give unconditional love and understanding. I have very, very fond memories revolving around these golden beauties so I wanted to do something to show it! (Of course I love all dogs of every breed, I just wanted to do this for myself!)

The beautiful creatures we offer our homes to, don't just become our pets. They become our family and we become theirs.

The inspiration for this picture came from this beautiful illustration on pinterest. For this manicure I began with two coats of Barry M's 'Truffle'. The dogs were done entirely in acrylic paint with my bamboo brush. I wish I had done a better job but at the same time I am glad it is how it is.

Princess In Pink - Freehand With Water Decals

How are you doing today? I hope your having a great day. I'm currently enjoying a nice cup of green tea and enjoying the weather! I have a secret... and I hope you don't hate me for it. I absolutely despise animal print... Now that you know that it is probably no surprise that animal print patterns hardly ever grace my nails. Remember I told you about the lucky/surprise bags I ordered from The Born Pretty Store? One of my surprises was indeed pink leopard print water decals and you know what? I actually really like these!

I believe these water decals are no longer in the store but there are some really similar ones and even others with different colours. I managed to work these decals into a way that I didn't mind the pattern at all! For this manicure I began with two coats of Yes Love's 'G12-1' on all my nail except my middle and ring finger; On those I applied two coats of Barry M's 'Dragonfruit'. I then created my cat and cut out half moons using my bamboo brush and black acrylic paint. I finished it all off by adding some gems to the collars and applying my water decals. Finally I applied a smooth licking of Catrice top coat.
