Love Your Nails - Orly Nail Polish Bottle Nail Art

How are you all doing today? Did you have a lovely long weekend off work for the Easter weekend? Whatever you got up to I always love to know how you are doing.

I've got a little good news.. If you followed me the last couple of months you'll know I had a temporary job which I absolutely loved – things went slightly wrong, I was promised a permanent role..but I never got to go back. Recently a friend who worked there ran into some family issues so I went back to cover her shifts while she's abroad... well.. I've now been offered a permanent role there! I'm still on cosmetics/fragrance for now but when my friend returns they wont just get rid of me (hurrah!) it may mean I'll be moved onto a different department such as woman's wear, accessories etc.. but that's fine with me!I'm really happy about it :)

Today's design is a tribute to the ORLY Pastel City collection which came out recently for spring, I loved those polishes so much, they were a beautiful collection. I wanted to use all of the nail polishes in this design but I reigned in a little self control and only used three.

Precisely Pastel Triangles

How are you doing today? Welcome to the weekend my good friends! I seem to be very up and down lately due to being home sick but today is most certainly a brighter day. Tomorrow I'll be celebrating the birthday of my Mother-in-law and my Sister-in-law so the house will be full of family and friends, I'm sure it will be a good day for everyone :) Right now chilling out with some Guacamole, a glass of wine and some TV show episodes sounds like a calling. Ready to tone it down and chill out too with some pastel's?

The polish line up is really simple. Of course there's the reappearance of Barry M's 'Lychee' which I just want to use with everything. On all my nails apart from my ring finger I applied two coats of 'Lychee' and once dry used tape to section of a triangle. I then painted this triangle with Barry M's 'Matt White', removed the tape and allowed to dry. I then took the tape again and marked the area of white I had created an created a gradient with my favourite pastel polishes which were: 'Something Sweet' (pink) from China Glaze, Apple Pie (Green), Blueberry Muffin (Blue), Banana Split (Yellow) from Model's Own and Prickly Pear (Purple) from Barry M.

China Glaze : Something Sweet Swatch & Review ★★★★/5

How are you doing? I hope you had a great start to the week. Did you get up to anything fun at the weekend? Unluckily for me I think I've now been struck with the flu.Give a gal a break! So here I am all tucked up in bed with a warm blueberry muffin tea and thousands of blankets as I write this! Luckily I had all of the pictures for today's post ready. Now I am glad I was so camera happy at the weekend! Today I am showing you Something Sweet from China Glaze.

Colour ~ Something Sweet is a cute pastel baby pink. It leans slightly on the cool side with a slight hint of lilac but is still wonderfully cupcake-pink. If you prefer cool pinks I think you'll like this!

Application ~ I applied two coats of Something Sweet. I personally do find it can be a little streaky on the first application but after the second coat it smooths out perfectly and seems to self level itself out.

Texture ~ Its a little on the thicker side although its really not too thick to be a problem. I would describe the texture as more of a crème.

★★★★/5 I have to say I really like Something Sweet, it certainly is a very yummy innocent looking pink. In the past I thought it looked a little weird on my skin tone but now I've rekindled my love for it all over again! Because of the reasonable dry time, good texture and unique colour I have to say.. what's not to love?

If I borrowed this from a friend would I go and buy myself a bottle? Yes because even though it is a pastel I love the unique cool hue that pops out from the buttery creamy pink.

Model's Own: Banana Split Swatch & Review ★★★★/5

Hope your weekend is going just dandy! I have to say I'm not feeling like I have much energy this weekend but I'm trying to be productive.. Zzz! In fact this was a scheduled post and now I have caught my Partner's sickness, Sore throat require yummy soup! Today I have another Model's Own polish to show you, this is actually part of the scented collection... This shhh is banana's! B – a – n – a – n – a- s!

With Model's Own Scented polishes you have the ability to scratch the top of the lid to smell the scents they added to match each individual nail polish. In this case I smell banana when I scratch and although I have had this polish stashed a way for a while the scent is still there. I guess I was expecting the nail polish to smell but in hindsight I think I would get sick of the smell of banana when I touch my face so I'm glad the smell is just on the bottle cap.

Colour ~ Banana split is a wonderful light creamy pastel yellow. It certainly does make me think of banana milkshake; it is a perfect 'banana' yellow. Its actually one of those pastels that once I apply it I can't stop gazing at it.

Application ~ Wowza! A pastel yellow that doesn't dry streaky or patchy, I'm impressed. I had no problems with bubbles. I also noticed it seems to be quite self levelling because I noticed a few brush strokes which just vanished with a topcoat of Seche Vite and left a perfect finish. I applied two coats of Banana Split.

Texture ~ Its actually pretty good, its quite thick but it does dry in a wonderful smooth finish with a great time. I really have no complaints in terms of texture. I would describe it as a crème. It is in no way chalky, its more like delicious cake icing!

★★★★/5 A high score! 4 out of 5 stars! Pretty damn good! There is just nothing not to like about this shade. Considering the issues I've had with pastel yellows in the past I am glad that Model's Own produced a non streaky beautiful pastel.

If I borrowed this from a friend would I go and buy myself a bottle? If I had nothing like this in my collection hell yes. Also if I had a pastel yellow that dried streaky and chalky I would replace it with Banana Split.

Deborah Lippmann's - Glitter In The Air Swatch and Review
