Pink & Blue Dotty Nails & Oversized Bows

Allo polish Pals!
How are you all doing today? I hope you had an awesome weekend?

I attempted to film a nail art video yesterday and I'm still feeling the hand cramp. I am just not good at trying to paint with my hand in unusual positions although the way I do paint is probably not how everyone else does it. I think managed to get some shots in focus though so fingers crossed I'll be able to post those soon. It's all practice, I guess! I've a new tripod on the way!

I also finally decided to stop bugging myself and buy a damn desk lamp. It's getting darker earlier and earlier here in England, on a gloomy day its becoming harder to paint. Night time painting isn't even an option. So now I can actually paint whenever I want! - what an exciting life I lead, haha.

Today's nail art is actually a couple days out since I had to rearrange my blog posts but on the 15th September it was 'International Dot Day'. Yeah, really, its a thang. I love finding out about all these wacky and unique days.

Anyway, I figured dots are something most people can do on their nails so I decided to incorporate it in to the Tiny Canvas weekly challenge for this month (I've been taking care of the theme for a couple months, its fun!) I love to join in with the members and do a design for each theme too so here is my dotty manicure. Somehow I feel like this looks rather sophisticated for someone like myself. Like... I'm used to colourful children-book nails.. It feels weird seeing such a uniform design on my nails!

Off the top of your head, what, if anything, do these nails make you think of? I can't help think they'd be great for a baby shower or some sort of gender reveal party..thing. Maybe its the soft colours? Does it make you think of anything?

For this manicure I began with my OPI Nail Envy top coat and once dry I applied two coats of Barry M's 'Truffle' from the silk collection (I'm still in love with those, well, What I have left of them!) I then created pink and blue dots using acrylic paint, mixing lighter and darker colours to try and make the dots look a little more 3D instead of being entirely flat. I used black acrylic to create a super thin ruffian along the top of each nail and finished off by adding the two bows, I applied these by dabbing a small amount of top coat onto my nail and placing the bows on top.

Sometimes people ask me how I can wear such big things on my nails. I'll tell you a secret. I can't. I pick them off almost immediately, ha!

What do you think of this manicure? Do you like my polka dots?

Thank you so much for visiting today, I hope you enjoyed your stay :) Have a wonderful day and I'll be back on Wednesday for another freehand nail art design (one I've been DYING to share with you since April.)

Love,
Ithi

  1. I was kind of hoping there would be some news on your passport... but I guess I have to keep my fingers crossed a while longer ;)
Your nails look adorable! I was lucky to be able to pick up some Barry M polishes when I was on vacation (you didn't think I wouldn't buy nail polish when abroad, did you?) so Truffle is mine now as well :D

    1. I missed you, Joyce! Hehe :) NO news on the passport front. I've decided to look into the course next year and hopefully I can find a job my November at least, then I can at least get saving to help fun it. My current situation is ..."You have to wait until the examiner decides if initials for your middle name will count" - as they need to see my entire name on something like a bank statement however NO WHERE will provide my full name and as I gave my middle name a '-' it means it only shows up at a C or C-L at the most, argh!

Thank you so much for your kind words! YAY for a Barry M splurge, it's healthy for you, I swear! :D I am glad you found Truffle! I don't use it that often but I always enjoy it when I do wear it! Can't wait to see how you use it!

    2. Ooh, just had a thought... is your birth certificate easy to get your hands on? If so, doesn't that state your full name? I know I can request a copy online using my social security number and mine shows my full name. Maybe that helps? *keeping fingers, toes and eyes crossed now*

    3. Thank you so much, Joyce! This would have been perfect but I've changed my name since. What is on my deed poll is what I need proof of but nothing offers my full middle name (I hypenated my first and middle name)but I am so thankful that you thought of me <3 The wait conintues :(

    1. Thank you for your comment, Cia! I do all my own designs, they are usually 95% freehand so created with a paint brush however I also review things like water decals - I can't take credit for those designs!

  3. I was just going to ask about how you wear things on your nails Ithfifi, LOL Your nail art is really so cool and it is art through and through. It would be awesome to have something like this done when I turn 60 to celebrate going dotty in my old age ;-)

  4. Ahah I had the same question about the bow, but there you said it! ^^ I love what you did with the dot, the 3D style makes it even better than just a flat color. And yes I do agree these will look super cool for a Baby Shower :)

  5. Ha Ha, you do lead an interesting life, almost as interesting as mine. Okay so I never master painting my own nails, I just have the patience to wait for it to completely dry so looking at your beautiful Pink & Blue Dotty Nails & Oversized Bows - which reminds me quite a bit about Minnie Mouse, I am in awe. I can't even master one colour, and you get to add bows, even though you take them off almost immediately. They still look fun

  10. Definitely makes me think of a baby shower ☺️!! I am so jealous of ladies that get their nails done all the time. With the job I have, they would be ruined in a day. If I do get mine done, it's when I'm going on vacation for a week so I can enjoy them!!

    1. I'm glad I wasn't the only one picking up that vibe, hehe. I don't get to wear my creations very long as I am constantly coming up with new ideas, so I can sort of relate. Pehaps gel polish would be longer lasing with your job? :)
