Freehand Rainbow Tree Nails

Allo polish Pals!

How are you all doing, did you have an awesome weekend? Yesterday was Mothers day here – I know in other parts of the world Mother's day is later on in the year. I love my mum so much, we are incredibly close and I value her greatly. I bought her a bouquet of lilies and roses which she loved. Sunday afternoon we went to my sisters house (she literally lives a minute away) and they cooked a roast dinner which was lovely.

Today I have another rainbowy concoction for you. Sorry, but I can never get enough of rainbows. Rainbows make everything better!

I also tried an experiment with this nail art, with some acrylic paint I watered it down to create a metallic shimmery wash (just to swipe over the nails to add a little shimmer) – I added some holographic glitter to it. Since it was in a watery mixture it didn't stick to the nails perfectly but trying new things is always fun!

For this manicure I began with a single coat of ORLY's 'White Tips' – sorry but I've found my go to white nail polish, there's no turning back. I then used a mixture of acrylic paints and painted on my rainbow gradient with a brush. I added a shimmer wash, watering down metallic acrylic paint and holographic glitter, I applied the watery mixture onto my nails. I allowed that a short while to dry before moving on with black and white acrylics to paint the tree and grass. I used my Pure Color brush in #9 for the detailing. Finally I applied my ORLY Glosser top coat and eventually my Barry M matte top coat.

I'm thinking of a sort of ask and answer post, so if you've any questions about my nails or nail art please do leave them in the comments!

What do you think of this nail art? Do you think the glitter works for this design?

Thank you so much for visiting, have a fantastic day, don't forget to leave your thoughts in the comments. I'll catch you again on Wednesday!

Love,
Ithi

  1. The glitter most definitely works Ithi. It's so subtle and totally fits with the rainbow theme. I'm still in awe of how you manage to blend on such a small canvas like your nails. I'm wowed every time I see you artwork

  12. Hi Ithi, I have many friends in GB so I saw all the Mother days greetings pass on Sunday and made me miss my mum so much! I phoned her and while talking to her, I burnt the dinner, LOL!!
Well, I LOVE, love, love, your mani, rainbow gradients are my absolute favourite thing and you did it wonderfully.
For your QandA post I have some questions: what acrilyc colours you use? which brand and where can they be found online?
