Freehand Purple Monochrome Island Nails

Allo polish Pals!

How are you all doing today? I hope you had a fantastic weekend, did you get any snow or do anything fun? I had a long weekend off, it was surprising how tiring those two full days back at work where! I did a little painting, tidying, organising. Nothing exciting but having Saturday through to Wednesday off is giving me time to get my posts in order and catch up on things I wont be able to do during the end of the week.

Today's nail art is inspired by the challenge over on Tiny Canvas where the theme is currently monochrome. I decided to paint an entire scene only with purple paint. I love painting monochrome however I had absolutely no idea what to paint.. somehow I ended up with a little church on an island which I can't help but think looks a little creepy..

First of all... why is there a church on this little island and nothing else? Like.. not even a tree. Who is on the boat, why are they going there..? I can't answer any of these questions! I am sure if I had painted this in colour it might look quite sweet and pretty, I really think the purple adds the creepiness to it!

For this design I began with my beloved OPI Nail Envy base coat and allowed a minute or so for it to dry. I then applied two coats of Binky London's 'Purple Shimmer' to both my thumb nail and pinky for a nice contrast in texture. I do love this chunky glitter! On my remaining nails I used one coat of ORLY's 'White Tips' from the Breathable collection before swiftly moving on to the nail art. I used a standard paint brush to create an acrylic-gradient for my sky, going from dark purple into lighter purple. I used my Pure Color brush in size #10 to create all the details, mixing paints to achieve different shades of purple. I sealed it all in with my ORLY Top2Bottom top coat and eventually added my Barry M matte top coat.

What do you think of this design? Do you think this scene looks a little creepy?

Have an awesome day, thank you so much for stopping by. Be sure to leave your thoughts in the comments below! I'll see you again on Wednesday.

Love,
Ithi

  1. Wow..You have done it so well. Monochrome nails aren't that easy, need quite a good sense of colors. Your manicure is just perfect and well balanced. :-)

  3. Nope, I don't think it looks creepy at all Ithi. Maybe if you'd gone for black and white it would, but the purple makes it look like the little church is bathed in pale moonlight. So pretty

  5. It does not looks creepy at all, love the purple color. The details are so beautiful, and the shimmer looks perfect on the sides. Love the monochromatic finish on the nails with the beautiful art and the outer ones with shimmer.

  6. #2. Sounds like a well deserved mini vacation to rest and rejuvenate! The church looks great, not sure what is creepy about it? I always love the water dvenes- they ate fluid and seem to dance in the moonlight. 💕 Xo, Evelyn, PathofPresence 🦋

  10. It is so hard to do a pretty and exiting looking mani just with monochrome paints but you did it. I love everything I see and even if purple is not my favorite color I love the final mani!

  12. This matt/ shimmer contrast is better than the shamrock one! It blends nicely and the shimmery nails doesn't seem out of place. Great attempt!
