Freehand Halloween Chickens Go Trick Or Treating

Allo polish Pals,

Happy weekending to you all! I hope you are having a fabulous one so far? Tell me, do you have any plans for Halloween?

I don't really celebrate it and never have, growing up in the UK it wasn't massively popular where I grew up coupled with the fact I was the only child on the street (and my sister was 7 years older) but I've always been in awe at how some American families decorate their houses and gardens and go ALL out! It looks like a lot of fun.

Since I started nail blogging I have found each Halloween more and more fun in terms of creating nail art. I've already posted on design but I am saving the best for Monday's post! Ever since I created those scary hag sisters I've been trying to out do myself!

Today though.. These little chickens just want join in the fun. They've got their costumes on early because they just can not contain they little beaky excitement! Who says chickens can't enjoy Halloween too?..

I guess this was before I had shaped my nails into more of an almond shape. I feel a bit..urgh looking at them being round now!

So the inspiration for this nail art actually came from my 3 year old (soon to be 4!) nephew. These days he takes more interest in whats on my nails than my niece does. He told me back in September he wanted me to do chicken nail art... I couldn't think of a single idea that didn't seem overly spring-like.. Until I realised I could just dress the chickens up. Everybody wins!

For this design I began with my usual base coat of OPI's 'Nail Envy' – I swear this stuff is a miracle.. I don't think I've had a nail break in over two years, woot. I then applied a coat of Barry M's 'Cocoa' and once dry applied two thin coats of Barry M's 'Gingerbread' which is incredibly sheer but looked very pretty on top of cocoa since its such a rich, indulgent brown. I then applied a coat of top coat and allowed to dry. Next I moved on to painting the chicks using my WhatsUpNails 20 dance brush and acrylic paints. I then sealed my final design with a last coat of top coat.

Since I didn't have much room on my pinky I made a witchy-egg.. Egg sandWITCH, anyone?..

What do you guys think?
Which little chicken do you like best? What Halloween nail art have you worn before?

Have an awesome weekend, let me know what adventures you are getting up to.

Thank you for visiting, I'll be back on Monday for my final Halloweenie nail art!

Love,
Ithi
