Allo polish Pals!
How are you today? I hope you all had a fantastic weekend! Today I have a swatch
for you, I saw this polish floating around everywhere a while ago.
Seriously, nearly all the social media I use were thrusting this
polish in my face and I had wanted to try it... and as if by magic,
last time I was home in England my mum completely surprised me by
giving it to me – She had absolutely no way of knowing! This is
Essie's 'Chinchilly'.
Colour ~ Essie describes
'Chinchilly' as a 'sleek & sexy granite grey'. Which I suppose is
a nice description. I think she is one to divide the crowds, you'll
either love it or hate it. When I want to talk about 'Chinchilly' I
would have to refer to it as a very warm grey with a smoky touch. Its
not a slate grey in my opinion thanks to its subtle but sweet
brownish tinge.
Application ~ I am wearing three
coats in these pictures and I applied them pretty fast in between. I
had no trouble what so ever but it was necessary for the third coat
to get the colour opaque. The first coat does look a little muddy and
streaky but it is all fixed up by the last coat. As you can see,
'Chinchilly' resulted in a very beautiful and glossy manicure.
Texture ~ I would say
'Chinchilly' leans more towards the thinner side of the nail polish
spectrum; Because of this it is very easy to build up the colour and
gives it a very delightful drying time.
★★★/5 Here's a really mixed conclusion...While I do really love Chinchilly I know its not to everyone's taste. I love the colour, the end result, the texture and application... And while I do enjoy using it for nail art I just don't think I could brave wearing this shade alone – I can't quite figure out why, at least for me it just doesn't look right on my nails. I would recommend this polish just for how diverse it is and how many shades it will look great next to.

What do you think of this grey
based polish? What colours would you wear with Chinchilly?
Have a great day!

I love the colour a lot! This is amazing shade <3
ReplyDeleteYou lucky girls, this is a great polish, I like the finish of it very much. I would love to share polishes with my mum, but she doesn't paint her nails!
ReplyDeleteI really like this color, its very unique. I think it would be great with some nail art :)
ReplyDeleteHmmm. I like to see taupe polish on others but I don't like it on me - just like you.
ReplyDeleteI like this polish! I have a lot of polishes/colors I dont feel 100% percent comfortable with wearing alone. But for nail art they can be gold. I'd match it with something bright and neony I think :D A favorite of mine is using a neon matte bright blue glitter with brown for example :D Just kickass.
ReplyDeleteI love getting polish from my mom too hehe :) I like grey / taupe colors but I think this one is too dark for me to wear on its own... Sometimes I'm in the mood for a darker color but I usually get tired of it after a day or so :p
