Freehand Grimm Brother's Hanzel & Gretel Nail Art

Allo polish Pals!

Hello, hello and lots of hugs to you all. I hope you had an awesome weekend? Did you get up to anything interesting? - do tell, I love to know what you guy have been up to. Without working the week and weekend all seem to merge in to one, I need to start planning more things to do during the weekend to make it more fun.

Today's nail art is inspired by the famous Grimm brothers and their fairy tale Hansel & Gretel. I don't know if you know but I really love painting with black and white paint because it feels like a challenge to get various tones and to make certain parts stand out more than others, so that is the I went for with this manicure.

Of course working with a greyscale palette makes things interesting.. but a candy house isn't going to look so appealing amongst the bleak tones if it is also painted in the same way..Bring on the colours!

For this manicure I used my trust OPI Nail Envy base coat – the base coat I credit my strong nails to. I then applied two gunky, tacky, messy coats of China Glaze's 'White On White (This shade has seen better days but I'm now obsessed with ORLY's 'White Tips') Once my white polish was dry I added a thin coat of my Pro-FX top coat which has also seen better days but still works well under my paints. Next I moved in with my Dance 20 brush from Whatsupnails and acrylic paints to create the whole scene. I sealed this all in with two coats of top coat and eventually added my matte top coat because... just because. Some designs look better matte.

I wasn't 100% happy with this nail art but I had worn it whilst working and the praise and compliments were insane, I'm not one for the spot light but it was nice to have such a positive reaction. One person would see them, call over another girl from another department, she'd then go find her friend, then someone else would come over to see them!! That pretty much went on through out the day “Did you see Ithi's nails?!” It was so surprising but so sweet of everyone :)

What do you guys think of my fairytale nail art? Are there other fairytales you'd like to see on my nails in the future?

Thank you so much for visiting today, don't forget to leave your thoughts, future design suggestions or just say hi in the comments below. Have an awesome day, I'll be back on Wednesday!

Love,
Ithi

  2. That's so clever Ithi, using White Tips as snow. No wonder everyone was raving about your nail art. I've always wanted to ask, when you do your gorgeous nail art do you only paint the art work on one hand? Sorry if that's a silly question
